Timm Beichelt is a Professor for European Studies at European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) on the border between Poland and Germany. He holds an MA and PhD in Political Science, Russian Literature and Economics from Heidelberg University. Since 2003, he has been the Director for the MA in European Studies at Viadrina. He was also the Director of the European Studies Research Institute (IFES) at Viadrina from 2017 to 2022. He currently directs the Jean Monnet Policy Network 'ValEUs. Research & Education Network on Contestations to EU Foreign Policy'. He served on the Board of the German Association for East European Studies (DGO) and is chairman of the Academic Advisory Board of the Berlin Based Centre for East European and International Studies. His main fields of interest are European politics, German EU politics, and the development of regimes and democracy in East and Central Europe. His most recent publications are 'Homo Emotionalis. On the Systematization of Emotions in Politics' and 'Football, Power, and Politics in Europe. The German Case in Comparative Perspective', both of which have been published by Palgrave/Springer.
