MORES, PLEDGE, and PROTEMO—Horizon Europe-funded projects investigating the role of emotions in politics from different perspectives—invite policy stakeholders to a joint online workshop. The event will take place on 21 November 2025 between 12 PM and 1 PM (CET).

Emotions play a key role in how policies are formulated, debated, and implemented. The three research projects, launched in 2024 across Europe, will share their first policy-relevant scientific results and discuss how emotions shape policymaking and democratic processes. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions directly and contribute to the next stages of MORES, PLEDGE, and PROTEMO's research. Sign up via the link below.

What to Expect

MORES will discuss the results of a big data analysis on the emotional content of policy discourses in different European countries—and the factors driving them. The project will also introduce the first results on the effects of different emotional framings of policy narratives on attitudes of policy support.

PLEDGE will present fresh insights from its democratic design workshops about the emotional needs of citizens, how emotions affect democratic processes, and how democratic design can be developed to take citizens' emotions into account more effectively.

PROTEMO investigates the emotional dynamics related to policies that are communicated as providing protection to citizens. The project starts from the observation that the emotional need for a safe and secure environment has become a crucial characteristic of these times and that political parties as well as governments adapt their strategies, communication as well as policy proposals to this environment. During the event, it will report results from an 11-country survey and discuss the implications of the results.
