The poltextLab, a part of the HUN-REN Centre for Social Sciences (HUN-REN CSS), will host the second Budapest Methods Workshop on Large Language Models and Generative Artificial Intelligence on 21-22 November. The event, organised in collaboration with MORES and partner institutions, will explore social science applications and legal aspects of AI technologies. The workshop will be held at HUN-REN CSS in Budapest.
The event's sessions will focus on how social scientists can use large language models (LLMs), such as BERT, and open-source generative artificial inteligence technologies like Llama to advance their research methodologies and outputs.
Zsolt Boda, MORES coordinator and Research Professor at HUN-REN CSS, will present his findings on the role of joy and fear in Hungarian policy debates in a session on Thursday, 21 November. This research used an innovative AI system to analyse over 5 million sentences from Hungarian parliamentary speeches between 1998 and 2022.
The study, conducted in collaboration with HUN-REN CSS's researchers Gabriella Szabó and Orsolya Ring, launched the MORES Working Paper series. The publication is available for download here.
